Day 1

Gerrards Cross

During the first day, we visited the town centre of where my home is located. Therefore me and my friends had different reactions. I knew all the shops and restaurants whereas they were clueless. I wanted to look into this difference further since it might give birth to a brand new theme. Some ideas are already forming inside my head with familiarity and daily routines.

Gerrards Cross- Nails and Brows

Next we visited a place here that I visit very often. We did our nails and eyebrows and I had my arms and legs waxed. This reminded me of my previous theme, Perfection and how many people aim for this endless goal in life. Of course many people visit this place to take care of themselves however some other people might be too obsessed to do this repeatedly that is has became a serious issue. For instance, if I do not get my nails done every week, I start to feel insecure about myself which is not healthy. I think here, my ideas took a important route.

I wanted to take these images via snapchat to show how these obsession for beauty isn't even for ourselves, it's to get other peoples approvals and fit in with the society today. In my personal case, as a transgender I want to make myself look as feminine as possible to hide my physical male qualities.

       Day 2

Fortnum and Mason

Today we went to the famous tea room/shop in Oxford Street since my pair wanted to look into culture. I took advantage by this and used it as an opportunity to observe the colour scheme around there and couldn't help but notice how everything was soft pastel. It was as if meant to drift the visitor away from the struggles of real world and create this pure happy place. I personally have this problem where I convince myself that I live in a Utopia and there are no problems in the world as long as they do not directly effect me. Another name for this is being ignorant. I saw this as a bad habit of mine and these colour tones sort of symbolise this fake reality I keep on creating in my head.

Commune Manifesto

1. We have to spend each day in a different space from 12pm to 6pm.

2. In each location we must take part in an activity and eat lunch/dinner together.

3. The location must have a special significance to at least one of the participant.

       Day 3

Wonderful Things

As our final trip, we wanted to combine our interests and visit the V&A museum and specifically Tim Walker's exhibition. Here, I developed my interest in bad habits and fake reality further whereas my friends studied the gothic side of the gallery and how the designer was inspired by religion. Since I have visited this exhibition before, this time I had an opportunity to look further into the photography and the curation in more detail. There were different sections of the museum where some rooms were bright and soft whereas some others were saturated and richer tones. What I was really interested at the end of the day was how me and my friend had very contrasting personalities yet we still share things in common, just as if we were two different variety of a person just like ''Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde''. It inspired me to look into different mental health problems such as being bipolar that might be a result of bad habits.
